Corny Weekend....

I've decided that I'm going to really make an effort to keep this blog going. My goal in writing this particular blog is to have something to look back on and something for my kids to look back on to see what I have accomplished.

First off... lets start at this weekend.... Friday was Relay for Life 2013. I started my day with a 7 hour work day and than straight off to the relay. Of course being the go-getter that I am, I started out walking right away after the survivor lap. At the beginning, the laps were a pain in the butt as there was so many people on the track that you couldn't go at a good pace or had to try to pass people at many different opportunities. As the hours dragged on, the people packed up and left the park. Around 2am, there was probably 20 people walking the track at one time. At 5am, I had completed my 55th lap and decided to call it a day. What an awesome experience but we definitely learned that we need to do it in shifts next time so we aren't hurting our legs again!

Corny Days..... After picking up the girls, we are off to Corny days. We arrive at 9:30am and are warmly welcomed by Grandma and Grandpa. After getting the tent set up for the day, we are off to hit up the shops. ( Mini garage sale stands that are mostly just junk) The girls each get excited to find a few things. Avery getting 3 owl ceramics ( 1 for Auntie) and Rylan buying some more Little People for her collection at home. They also picked out a puppy for Grandpa to have while he is staying at the hospital. After watching the parade and taking a picture of every float we head back to swim in Lake Superior. Wow was the water cold. Avery, Rylan and Dameon being the kids that they are, jumped right in the water while me and Jake kind of waded in lol. Uncle Bill let the kids go in his blow up boat and row it around the beach. The kids loved this. We also had the opportunity to walk out onto the sand bars.

Bayfield...... Having never driven past Cornacopia we decided to go explore the shops in Bayfield. Nothing too exciting here other than a creepy old man that kept on talking to us and asking where we were from. We did get some awesome ice cream and a magnet to mark our trip.

Back to Reality.... We decided to leave Cornacopia early to go see Grandpa Eugene in the hospital. (Last week he stepped on some nails and didn't realize it as he can't feel his feet and ended up getting a bad infection. The doctor decided that his best option would be to get his toe cut off which was done last Thursday.) After visiting Grandpa and giving him his puppy which he named "Kitty" we headed to eat at perkins and than down to the lake walk. The roses were beautiful and the lake was nice. Rylan ended up having an accident so we left after about 1/2 hour but all in all it was a good time.
